The InstantService board of directors currently comprises
five members. Several positions are being reserved for
key investors, as well as for individuals with a strong
background in technology, eCommerce or telecommunications.
The current board is as follows:
Curt Blake, Board Member
Curt Blake sits on the board of directors and works
closely with the executive team to develop corporate
strategy. Blake has been involved in numerous high technology,
software and Internet companies, serving for the past
five years as chief operating officer of Starwave Corporation.
As an attorney with the Seattle law firm of Preston
Gates & Ellis, he worked almost exclusively with
Microsoft Corporation to develop its initial software
license and distribution program. Blake also worked
as general counsel for Aldus Corporation where he was
responsible for all corporate legal strategy and key
negotiations. He holds a BA in Business Administration
and a JD-MBA degree from the University of Washington.
Mike Lande, Chief Executive Officer
Mike Lande, who joined the company in September 1998,
is chief executive officer of InstantService.com and
sits on the board of directors. His background includes
extensive experience working with high technology firms
on corporate planning and strategy issues. While at
Preston Gates & Ellis and more recently as a partner
at Seattle's McDonald & Quackenbush, Lande served
as counsel to Microsoft Corporation, Starwave, Corbis
and Conversational Computing, as well as numerous start-up
organizations. Lande holds a BA in Business Administration
and Finance from the University of Washington and a
JD in Law from Seattle University.
Harvey Ring, Board Member
Harvey Ring is a board member and works closely with
the company as a business consultant. Ring is currently
an active angel investor and consultant to early-stage
high technology companies. His executive management
career spans all aspects of sales, marketing and business
process development for a number of leading technology
companies. He is a former vice president of Dellware
for Dell Computer, Inc., a director of the PC division
of Microwarehouse Inc., and a vice president and general
manager of the software division of Microcom, Inc. Ring
holds the following degrees from the University of Michigan:
an MBA in Marketing and Finance, a PhD in High Energy
Physics, a MS in Physics and a BSE in Physics.
Richard Salwen, Board Member
Richard (Rick) Salwen is the former Vice President,
General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Dell Computer
Corporation, joining the company in 1989 with $250 million
in annual revenues and retiring in 2000, when Dell's
revenue had reached $30 billion. Prior to Dell, Rick
was General Counsel and Partner for the Perot Group
in Dallas, Associate General Counsel for Electronic
Data Systems Corporation, and a lawyer for the Federal
Aviation Administration. Rick has practiced law in a
private firm and taught legal research and legal ethics
as Adjunct Professor at University of Puget Sound Law
School. Presently, he is the Chairman of the March of
Dimes Central Texas Area, a member of the Board of Directors
for ARTS Center Stage in Austin, and a member of the
Advisory Council for the University of Texas Press,
among other activities. Rick earned his B.A. and Law
degrees at the University of Washington in Seattle.
